Bar Open

Bar Open serves as a long-standing fixture of the Fitzroy live music scene, positioned on the main Brunswick Street thoroughfare. This venue provides a platform for various musical genres, with a particular focus on experimental jazz, folk, and independent rock. The layout includes a ground-floor bar area and a dedicated upstairs performance space used for concerts and film screenings. Patrons can access an outdoor courtyard area at the rear of the premises, offering a space for socialising away from the main stages. Situated a short distance from the Royal Exhibition Building, the establishment maintains a consistent schedule of nightly entertainment. The interior features functional decor suited for a late-night music venue and bar. It caters to a diverse local demographic seeking original live performances rather than mainstream commercial hits. Visitors to the area often include this location in their itinerary when exploring the cultural and artistic offerings of the northern Melbourne suburbs.
