About Gallagher Point Camping Area
Gallagher Point Camping Area is situated within the Bribie Island National Park, accessible primarily by high-clearance four-wheel drive vehicles. Located near Banksia Beach, this camping ground offers six numbered sites suitable for tents and off-road camper trailers. The environment consists of open woodland and provides a quiet alternative to larger, more developed camping areas on the island. Visitors must bring their own supplies, including drinking water and fuel stoves, as the site offers minimal facilities to maintain its natural state.
The campground overlooks the Pumicestone Passage, a protected waterway known for its diverse marine life and migratory bird populations. This location serves as a practical base for fishing, kayaking, and exploring the coastal tracks of the national park. Its proximity to the Bribie Island Recreation Area ensures guests can access various beach driving routes while staying in a sheltered bush setting. Permits are required for both camping and vehicle access, which are managed by the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service.
