Kuranda Police Station

Kuranda Police Station serves as the primary law enforcement hub for the village and surrounding tropical rainforest areas. The station manages public safety, traffic control, and emergency coordination within the Mareeba Shire region. Officers provide support for both the permanent population and the high volume of tourists who visit the region daily. The facility acts as a point of contact for administrative services, including weapons licensing and police checks, ensuring essential government functions remain accessible to the local community. Situated in the heart of Kuranda, the station is located a short distance from the Kuranda Scenic Railway. This central position allows the Queensland Police Service to maintain a visible presence near major pedestrian areas and local markets. The station works in conjunction with regional services to monitor public spaces and respond to incidents throughout the Atherton Tablelands. Its proximity to natural attractions ensures that safety protocols are effectively managed for visitors exploring the rugged terrain of the nearby Barron Gorge National Park.
