About La Boite Roundhouse Theatre
La Boite Roundhouse Theatre operates as a significant cultural venue within the Ballymore and Kelvin Grove precinct. As Australia’s only purpose-built theatre-in-the-round, the facility offers a unique configuration where the audience surrounds the performance space. This architectural design ensures clear sightlines and an intimate connection between actors and spectators. The venue primarily focuses on commissioning and producing contemporary Australian works that reflect a broad range of perspectives and social narratives.
Situated near the Victoria Park parklands, the theatre provides a central hub for performing arts in Brisbane's inner north. The seasonal program includes mainstage plays, independent productions, and various artist residency initiatives. Visitors can access the site via local public transport or dedicated parking areas within the surrounding university campus. The onsite bar and foyer spaces facilitate pre-show gatherings and post-performance discussions, supporting the local creative community and visiting theatre enthusiasts throughout the year.
