About Ocean Beach Camping Area (Site I)
Ocean Beach Camping Area (Site I) is located on the eastern side of Bribie Island in the suburb of Diamond Head. This remote destination requires a high-clearance four-wheel drive vehicle and a valid vehicle access permit to reach the grounds. Campers find numbered sites positioned behind the foredunes, providing protection from coastal winds while maintaining close proximity to the shoreline. The site operates on a self-sufficient basis, meaning visitors must bring their own water, fuel, and portable toilets to comply with local environmental regulations.
Situated near the Fort Bribie ruins, this location serves as a practical base for exploring the historical and natural features of the national park. The surrounding environment consists of coastal heath and littoral rainforest, supporting various local bird species and marine life. Guests at Diamond Head can access the beach for fishing, swimming, or driving along the designated sand tracks. Booking in advance through the national parks service is necessary to secure a spot at this coastal retreat.
