About The Settlement Camping Area
The Settlement Camping Area is the only camping location within Springbrook National Park in the suburb of Ingleside. This site offers eleven defined campsites suitable for both tent camping and small camper trailers. Facilities include toilets, drinking water, and a communal kitchen area equipped with electric barbecues. Visitors must book sites in advance through the Queensland National Parks service, as there is no on-site registration. The campground serves as a practical base for exploring the high-altitude rainforest environment and unique geological features of the surrounding mountain plateau.
Positioned within walking distance of the Purling Brook Falls lookout, the camping area provides direct access to several major hiking circuits. The local landscape consists of ancient Antarctic beech trees and diverse wildlife, including various bird species and nocturnal marsupials. Because the site sits at a high elevation, temperatures remain cooler than the coastal areas, requiring appropriate gear for cold nights. The layout ensures a level of privacy while maintaining proximity to essential amenities and the extensive network of walking tracks.
