About Ben Ewa
Ben Ewa is located within the Moreton Island National Park at Cape Moreton. This camping area features several sites situated behind sand dunes, offering protection from strong winds. The terrain consists of sandy soil surrounded by native trees, providing shade for tents and off-road camper trailers. It is a functional location for those arriving via the ferry due to its position on the western coastline. Visitors can engage in various outdoor activities including swimming, snorkelling, and photography of the natural landscape.
The site provides essential facilities such as composting toilets and cold showers, though visitors must bring their own drinking water and firewood. The Tangalooma Wrecks are located a short distance to the south, making this a suitable base for exploring the sunken vessels. Access to the campground requires a high-clearance four-wheel-drive vehicle, as all tracks on the island are sand-based. Permits are mandatory for all campers and must be obtained prior to arrival through the national park booking system.
