About Comboyoro Point Camping Area
Comboyoro Point camping area is situated on the northwestern coastline of Moreton Island near Cape Moreton. This site accommodates campers who arrive via high-clearance four-wheel-drive vehicles, as there is no sealed road access to the area. The campground features a range of sheltered sites positioned behind the foredunes, providing protection from coastal winds while maintaining proximity to the beach. Visitors have access to essential facilities including hybrid toilets and cold showers, though they must bring their own drinking water and rubbish bags for the duration of their stay.
The location serves as a practical base for exploring the northern end of the island, including the historic Cape Moreton Lighthouse. Its western-facing aspect offers views across Moreton Bay and provides access to calmer waters suitable for swimming and kayaking compared to the eastern surf beaches. Fire restrictions apply at this site to protect the surrounding bushland, and permits must be secured through the Queensland National Parks booking system prior to arrival. The site is a popular choice for those wanting to fish or boat along the coastline.
